The motor vehicle seat has two seat rail pairs consisting of a first rail (3) fixed to the structure of the vehicle and a second rail (4) fixed to the seat structure which are movable and lockable relative to one another, and a base rail (7) which is installed parallel to the seat rail pairs. A seat component (8) fixed to the seat structure interacts with the base rail in the event of either a head-on crash or a rear end crash. The seat component interacts with the base rail after a deformation of the seat (1).
