PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device which carries out the initial correction of illumination intensity, detecting an electric trouble in a discharge lamp without increasing the cost of the device, and to provide a lighting apparatus equipped with the discharge lamp lighting device and the discharge lamp, and a lighting system controlling a plurality of the apparatuses. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device comprises an inductance 3 of which one terminal is connected to an output terminal of an invertor 2, at least one balancer 4 of which one terminal is connected to the other end of the inductance 3, a first capacitor 5 of which one terminal is connected to the other end of the balancer 4, a plurality of series circuits of discharge lamps 6, second capacitors 7 connected in parallel with the respective discharge lamps 6, a dimmer controller 8 which adjusts the light flux of the discharge lamp right after lighting to a predetermined light flux, a detection circuit 9 which is connected to the discharge lamp 6 to detect its electrical abnormal state, and a control circuit 10 which controls the discharge lamp in response to signals from the detection circuit.
