PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroconductive diamond electrode having a prolonged life by inhibiting the exfoliation of a diamond catalyst layer, which has been a defect of a conventional one. SOLUTION: The electroconductive diamond electrode 1 comprises an electroconductive substrate 2 containing a carbonaceous material, a catalytic layer 3 of electroconductive diamond coated on the surface of the electroconductive substrate, and carbon fluoride 6 formed on an exposed part of the surface of the electroconductive substrate. Thereby, the formed carbon fluoride prevents the electroconductive substrate from contacting with an electrolytic solution, and inhibits the corrosion of the substrate to achieve the prolonged life of the electrode.
