PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system capable of preventing users from incorrectly setting a facility at a long distance to be actually traveled in the case that the distance to be actually traveled to the facility is substantially longer than a linear distance by notifying the users of this fact, reliably presenting a facility at a short distance to be actually traveled, and improving a periphery retrieval function. SOLUTION: A distance computing part 44 determines both a linear distance to a facility selected as a destination and a distance to be actually traveled to the facility along a guidance route. A distance comparison part 45 compares the two distances and outputs a notification signal to a notification instruction part 46 in the case where the distance to be actually traveled is twice the linear distance or greater concerning the selected facility. The notification instruction part 46 creates an alarm message that the distance to be actually traveled to the selected facility is twice the linear distance or greater and notifies the user of the message.
