PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration motor built in various portable communication devices e.g. a cellular phone, utilized as a vibration generating source capable of improving starting performance. SOLUTION: In the vibration motor 1, a flat rotor 30 has a main coil 33 embedded in a frame 32, is received in a case C, and rotated on a magnet in the case C by carrying a current to the main coil 33 through a commutator piece 31a. The rotor 30 is embedded in the frame 32, and has a magnetic material 35 positioned over a boundary between an S-pole 11b and an N-pole 11c of the magnet 11 and regulating the stationary position of the rotor 30 when the rotor 30 is in a stationary state, and an auxiliary coil 36 electrically connected to the main coil 33 and wound onto the magnetic material 35. The auxiliary coil 36 is electrically connected to the main coil 33 so as to generate a magnetization in the magnetic material 35 opposite to a magnetization induced in the magnetic material 35 by the magnet 11 when the current begins to be carried to the main coil 33.
