PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variation of DC voltage accompanying variation in the power supply voltage in a power factor improvement power supply, using a simple configuration. SOLUTION: An AC power supply 1 comprises a bidirectional switch 10 short-circuiting through a reactor 7, a bidirectional switch control means 11, a means 12 for detecting zero-cross of the AC power supply, and a means 14 for determining the maximum value (Δtmax) of the on-timeΔt of the bidirectional switch. The bidirectional switch control means 11 performs on operation, after elapsingΔd from a zero-cross detection signal and performs off operation, after elapsingΔt fromΔd, and theΔtmax determining means increases/decreases theΔtmax based on a power supply voltage detected by a power supply voltage detecting means 13.
