PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature compensation type liquid crystal oscillator which can be easily handled and is excellent in productivity, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric oscillator is formed in such a way that a concave first spatial portion and a concave second spatial portion are formed on the front and rear surfaces of an insulating base, respectively, a piezoelectric vibration element is mounted on the first spatial portion, a lid is placed and attached on the top edge of the opening of the first spatial portion to hermetically seal the first spatial portion, and an integrated circuit element having an incorporated oscillation circuit electrically connected to the piezoelectric vibration element or a combination of the integrated circuit element and an electronic component is mounted in the second spatial portion. Walls are formed so as to surround the second spatial portion, steps are provided on the walls respectively, and a characteristic control data writing terminal is formed on each of steps.
