PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display medium improved in optical characteristics, especially a contrast ratio. SOLUTION: In the display medium comprising a base body and constitutional layers including at least one liquid crystal layer containing a liquid crystal composition dispersed into a binder, D>1.20 is satisfied when it is defined that the absorbance of maximum absorption appearing in the infrared absorption spectra 2200 to 2250 cm<SP>-1</SP>of at least one liquid crystal layer is Da, the absorbance of maximum absorption appearing in 2830 to 2900 cm<SP>-1</SP>is Db and the absorbance ratio of respective absorbance values is Da/Db = D.
