PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoresis display device capable of evenly dispersing charged particles in display liquid and improving image quality by solving aggregation, maldistribution and precipitation of the charged particles. SOLUTION: In the image display device 1, display liquid prepared by dispersing a plurality of charged particles 33a, 33b moving in accordance with the direction of an electric field into a liquid dispersion medium 34 is filled into a display part 30 formed in a gap between a lower part substrate 10 having a lower part electrode 12 and an upper part substrate 20 having an upper part electrode 22. Spacers 31 disposed inside the display part 30 is provided with first horizontal electrodes 35a, 35b consisting of a plurality of electric conductive bodies. The lower part electrode 12 and the upper part electrode 22 generate an electric field in the vertical direction to form images and, on the other hand, the first horizontal electrodes 35a, 35b generate an electric field in the transverse direction (A-A' direction) and diffuses the charged particles 33a, 33b in the transverse direction (A-A' direction).
