PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint free from defective sealing by arranging properly a gasket well/gasket assembly used for a header/tank assembly for a heat exchanger, in a gasket well. SOLUTION: The gasket well/gasket assembly 30 has a base wall 36 and a side wall 38 erected therefrom, and the side wall has a slot 40 of a width W extended upwards to be opened. The assembly includes an elastomer gasket 34 received in the gasket well 32, and compressed to form a sealing joint between the base wall 36 and a mating member. The gasket is provided with a positioning member 52 having a sealing bead 50, and a tub 62 extended outward therefrom to be terminated in an end terminal 64. A lateral width w of the tub is not expanded toward the end terminal 64. The lateral width w is wider than a slot W under an undeformed condition. The gasket is received in the gasket well, and the tub is therein fastened width-directionally in the slot to hold the gasket inside the gasket well. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
