PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily grasp a blockage state of a slag discharge opening of an ash melting furnace. SOLUTION: This ash melting furnace comprises a primary combustion melting chamber 11 for melting ash, a secondary combustion chamber 12 connected with the primary combustion melting chamber 11 through a gas flow channel 13, a slag water-granulating chamber 15 connected with the gas flow channel 13 through the slag discharge opening 14 formed on a bottom floor surface of the gas flow channel 13, gas discharge piping 16 connected with the slag water-granulating chamber 15 and extracting an exhaust gas flowing into the slag water-granulating chamber 15 through the slag discharge opening 14, a sonic gas velocity meter 22 for measuring and outputting a gas flow rate of the gas discharge piping 16, a blockage warning means 30 for outputting warning notice when the gas flow rate output from the sonic gas velocity meter 22 is less than a set value, a control valve 19 mounted on the gas flow channel 13 for controlling quantities of fuel and air supplied to an auxiliary burner 18, and a controller 40 for controlling the control valve 19 to increase the quantities of fuel and air when the gas flow rate output from the sonic gas velocity meter 22 is lowered.
