PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift range selector mechanism of an automatic transmission enabling the uninterrupted selection of a shift range of the automatic transmission even if an electric motor breaks down or a malfunction occurs in a driving circuit and attaining and assuring the safe driving of a vehicle for a period until the broken electric motor etc. is repaired, in the shift range selector mechanism of the automatic transmission to select the shift range of the automatic transmission by the electric motor. SOLUTION: The shift range selector mechanism 20 of the automatic transmission is provided with at least the electric motor operated according to a driver's shift range selector command on a plurality of shift ranges P, R, N, D, 3, 2, L including a parking range P and a control rod 28 connected to the electric motor.
