PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions for surely and effectively improving mental functions of a human being or an animal except the human being, such as reduction of brain fag, sustenance and enhancement of concentration, and sustenance and enhancement of mental activity. SOLUTION: The brain fag-reducing composition, the concentration-sustaining and enhancing composition, and the mental activity-sustaining and enhancing composition as the mental functional compositions contain a mixed components comprising caffeine, theanine and arginine contained in tea as active ingredients. Preferably, the caffeine, the theanine and the arginine are formulated so that the ratio of the caffeine:theanine:arginine may approach the ratio of 1:2:2.
