USE OF 2-HYDROXY-5-PHENYLAZOBENZOIC ACID DERIVATIVE AS COLON CANCER CHEMOPROPHYLAXIS AGENT OR CHEMOTHERAPEUTIC AGENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ideal medicine on colon cancer chemoprophylaxis, wherein the medicine has the following profiles: (1) specific to colon; (2) limited absorption - absorptions of parent and metabolites are minimal; (3) not having systemic activity - once when the medicine is absorbed, the medicine is converted into an inactive form by the inactivation of metabolites, whereby the systemic effects on kidneys and GI (gastrointestinal) systems are limited; (4) anti-oxidizing characteristics - colon-specific anti-oxidizing activity further acts to reduce carcinogenic substance loads; and (5) NS (non-steroidal)AID-like anti-inflammatory mechanism - active metabolites should inhibit an inflammation-inducing eicosanoid route, but eicosanoid inhibition not damaging a substrate-maintaining route is preferable. SOLUTION: Use of a pharmaceutical composition containing a 2-hydroxy-5-phenylazobenzoic acid derivative of the formula is disclosed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
