The invention relates to managing a local data processing unit-DPU-from remote by a remote control unit, wherein a remote management unit-RMU-is coupled to the remote control unit by means of a network external with respect to the DPU, and the RMU is coupled with the DPU through a data bus, and wherein the RMU executes the steps of storing configuration data in a memory local to the RMU, accessing configuration data from the local memory and transmitting the data to the DPU over the data bus.
