<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for detecting a mobile body, capable of performing reading and writing of data between an RFID reader/writer and a mobile body mounted with an RFID tag with increased accuracy, and increasing the quantity of the data. <P>SOLUTION: The method and apparatus comprises the FRID reader/writer 20 wirelessly-communicating with the mobile body 31 mounted with the RFID tag 30 to perform read and write processing of the RFID tag 30, in which front end processing, central processing and rear end processing are performed in an front end detection area C, a central detection area B and a rear end detection area D of an antenna 22 of the RFID reader 20, respectively.
