SOLUTION: In this hydraulic power transmission device 10, the opening cross section of each of a plurality of first orifices 40 formed in a washer member 36 facing one slope of a cam mountain serving a discharge stroke of each piston 28 is set to be a predetermined value when receiving power transmission from an engine side to generate driving torque corresponding to a rotating speed difference due to positive-direction relative rotation between first and second shafts, and the opening cross section of each of a plurality of second orifices 42 formed in the washer member 36 facing the other slope of the cam mountain serving a discharge stroke of each piston 28 is set to be greater than the predetermined value when receiving power transmission from a wheel side to generate coast torque corresponding to a rotating speed difference due to reverse-direction relative rotation between the first and second shafts.
