PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable notifying a specific opposite party that the person who has set an IP telephone set in an automatic answering mode comes back home and the automatic answering state is released. SOLUTION: The storage means 1 of the IP telephone set stores an absence notifying destination telephone number, an abbreviated telephone number, and electronic mail addresses corresponding to each of the numbers. If an incoming call arrives during absence, the telephone number of the call is stored as an incoming call record. An electronic mail for notifying the release of the automatic answering state is automatically transmitted to the absence notifying destination in response to an automatic answering state releasing signal from an automatic answering state releasing means 2. The incoming call telephone number is read from the storage means 1, and, if the abbreviated dial of the read number is registered, an electronic mail for notifying that the person has come home is automatically transmitted from a message means 4 via a transmitting means 3.
