PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an automatic transmission for stabilizing shifting quality by learning and controlling the irregularity of engagement to be absorbed during footing release and upshifting. SOLUTION: After determining shift transmission with footing release and upshifting, initial hydraulic pressure is reduced in the next shift transmission when the rotating speed change rate of an input shaft is smaller than a preset value at synchronous determination, the initial hydraulic pressure is increased in the next shift transmission when the rotating speed change rate of the input shaft is a positive value, and the initial hydraulic pressure is corrected to be increased in the next shift transmission when the rotating speed of the input shaft does not fall in a preset range of a synchronous rotating speed or higher.
