PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent that has a sufficient cleansing effect on the hair and the body, keeps moisture retention and is excellent in stability with time in respect of odor. SOLUTION: The detergent composition comprises a component (a) in an amount of 0.1-30 wt%, a component (b) in an amount of 5-60 wt% and a component (c) in an amount of 0.1-20 wt% as given below: the component (a) is a polyoxyalkylene polyol isostearic acid ester represented by formula (I): Z-(O[(EO)<SB>m</SB>(PO)<SB>n</SB>]-R)<SB>a</SB>(wherein Z is a 5C or more hydrocarbon residue other than a hydroxy group, which has 5 or more hydroxyl groups; a satisfies 5≤a; EO is an oxyethylene group; PO is an oxypropylene group; R is an isostearic acid residue or a hydrogen atom in which the degree of esterification is 15-85 %; and m and n are each independently an average addition mole number of the oxyethylene group and the oxypropylene group, respectively and satisfy the relationships of 1≤m+n≤10 and m/(m+n)≥0.8 in which the oxyethylene group and the oxypropylene group may be added either in a block form or in a random form); the component (b) is an anionic surfactant; and the component (c) is an alkanol amide type nonionic surfactant.
