<p>The compound is obtained in is approx. 90% yield and in good purity by heating 1 mol. Mg (OEt)2 with 1.5-1.7 mol. diethyl adipate in excess EtOH, reacting 210-230C in 1.75-2.5 h, with continuous distillation of EtOH. The resinous product is dissolved/suspended in benzene and decomp. below 25C with half-concentrated HCl. The product may be distilled in vac. after removal of benzene.</p> |
