<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication device capable of improving reading/writing precision through radio communication with a radio communication medium and a ticket gate machine having the radio communication device. <P>SOLUTION: This ticket gate machine is provided with approach sensors 11, 12 and 13 detecting a user approaching a casing arranged detachably to a fixedly installed support member, a CPU 60 determining whether the person requires entrance processing or a person requirs exit processing according to a detection result by the approach sensors, and the radio communication device 10 performing radio communication with the radio communication medium installed in the casing for storing ticket gate information necessary for ticket gate processing.
