PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a hair cosmetic having excellent moisture retaining properties and stability to water and further preventing broken hair and split hair by friction during brushing. SOLUTION: This hair cosmetic comprises (A) a urea derivative in which at least one of hydrogen atoms possessed by urea is substituted with a hydroxyalkyl group. (A) The urea derivative is preferably hydroxyethylurea. The hair cosmetic preferably comprises (B) an amino acid surfactant as a cosmetic formulating agent. The hair cosmetic preferably further comprises at least one kind selected from (C1) a silicone derivative, (C2) a cationic polymer and (C3) an amino acid as the cosmetic formulating agent.
