Disclosed is a gas sensor (10) which is preferably used for detecting at least one physical property of a test gas, especially the concentration of a component of the test gas or the temperature of the test gas. A sensor element (16) comprising at least one contact area (60) is fixed within the gas sensor (10). A contacting part (50) is integrally joined to the contact area (60) by means of a layer (70). The contact area (60) is embodied in a porous manner while at least some areas of the layer (70) are located in the pores of the porous contact area (60). Also disclosed is a method for establishing an electrical contact between a contact area (60) of a sensor element (16) and a contacting part (50). According to said method, the contact area (60) is applied to the sensor element (16), the contact area (60) is coated with a layer (70), and the coated contact area (60) is integrally joined to a contacting part (50), at least some areas of the layer (70) invading the pores of the porous contact area (60) before or while the contact area (60) and the contacting part (50) are joined together. |
