A vane adjusting drive, especially for an exhaust powered turbocharger in an IC engine, has a control ring (11) supported on a mounting by ball bearings and with a number of evenly spaced support arms (14) between the mounting and the control ring. The arms are pivot mounted by their inner ends in the support and with the outer ends with shaped heads simulating gear tooth profiles. The heads locate in shaped recesses in the control ring with the recess profile also simulating gear profiles. The control ring is driven by an adjusting arm (28) powered by a servo drive.
