The control system for the operation of a direct fuel injector, for a fuel injection system (10) with a common rail (16) at an internal combustion motor, has a data store (26) to hold information on the injector (20), and an injector control unit is integrated into the motor control unit (24). The injection action is started by the control, based on the stored data for each individual injector. The stored data can include correction values for the volumes of fuel to be injected.
