<p>Separator for separating solid particles, particularly wood, from a flow of impure air, of the type having a screw fan, the housing of which encloses an impeller in the form of a driven rotatable hub with one or more helical flights, in which the hub is cylindrical and placed in a cylindrical housing the inner wall of which has one or more helical flights of greater pitch than those on the impeller, extending radially inwards about half the distance between the outer periphery of the impeller flights and the inner wall of the housing, the latter being closed at the opposite end to the feed end by an end wall, connected inwardly to the outer peripheral wall of the hypothetical enveloping cylinder for the impeller, while a snail-shell shaped chamber extends in the axial direction viewed from behind the end wall and an inwardly open snail-shell shaped chamber extends in front of the end wall round the impeller.</p> |
