The laser omits radiation pulses of higher energy content if the storable inversion is increasd through the action of a non-homogeneous magnetic field on the laser medium. the field is non-homogeneous radially and/or axially and increases the bandwidth of the laser. The medium is preferably trifluoremethyl iodide.
