Novel compounds of the formulas: WHEREIN R2 and R6 are hydrogen when Z2 is a single bond and Z2 is a double bond R2 and R6 are absent; R3 is keto, OH or OR9; R8 is H or OH; R9 is acyl or alkoxyalkyl; Z1 is -CH2Ch2- or cis-CH=CH-; Z2 is a single or double bond; Z3 is a single bond or a double bond and it is a double bond when R4 and R5 are hydrogen; Z4 is -CH2CH2- or trans -CH=CH-; Z5 is -CH2CH2- or cis-CH=CH-; n is 2 to 5 and m is 1 to 3. The compounds have improved biological stability and they can serve as a reservoir for prostaglandins that have biological activity, in that different prostaglandin compounds stimulate or inhibit smooth muscles, inhibit gastric secretion, lower or raise blood pressure, inhibit lipolysis and inhibit platelet aggregation.
