Novel compounds of formula wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each H, halogen, CF 3 , NO 2 C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy or an amino or monoalkyl or dialkyl amino group having 1 or 2 carbon atoms, are prepared by reaction of an appropriately substituted uracil with an optionally protected desoxyribose derivative, e.g. 31,51 - di - p - chlorobenzoyl - 21 - desoxyribofuranoyl chloride followed where necessary by removal of the protecting groups. The novel compounds are stated to have antiviral activity.
