A method for obtaining an availability value of a segment of a telecommunications network, comprising the steps of: defining a segment (S) by selecting n elements (1-8) of the network; defining a segment status indicator (SSI) with a value (VSSI) which is in each moment a function (F) of the value in the same moment of the alarms (A) corresponding to the selected elements; obtaining a list of the alarms (A) corresponding to the selected elements and a period (P); calculating, from a list of alarms and throughout intervals (I), a value (VSSI) of the segment status indicator; obtaining an availability value from the value (VSSI) of the segment status indicator. The invention also refers to a system and to a program product for carrying out the method.
