METHOD OF ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE COATING

An electrical discharge coating uses as an electrode a green compact formed by pressing a powder of a metal or a metal compound. When, in a working liquid or in an atmosphere, a pulse discharge is generated between the electrode and a work, the surface of the work is coated with a film composed of an electrode material or a substance resultant from the reaction of the electrode material by the energy from the discharge. The electrode used is formed by mixing and pressing a metal powder or a metal compound powder of 6 to 10 mum in average particle diameter. Under processing conditions of 50 to 500 mus in the pulse width and less than 30 A in the peak current value, a thick film composed mainly of a metal is formed.
