There is provided an encapsulated endoscope having a small load concerning signal processing unique to an imaging element and a small power consumption. The encapsulated endoscope includes: a storage section (208) for storing signal processing data RWB, BWB required for processing a signal unique to the imaging element (125) of the encapsulated endoscope; and a transmission section (142) for transmitting the signal processing data stored in the storage section. The signal processing data is a value obtained in advance before the encapsulated endoscope is shipped. The signal processing data is selected from data on a white balance coefficient, data on the image obtained by imaging a color signal processing chart by the imaging element, data indicating the address of the pixel defect of the imaging element, and the data indicating the offset value of the photoelectric conversion characteristic of the CMOS image sensor. The transmission section transmits the signal processing data together with the imaging data obtained by the imaging element.
