Production of phenylalkanes comprises alkylation of an aromatic compound by a olefin (done in a first catalytic reactor of alkylation in which is present reaction zones containing an solid acid catalyst); recuperate the reagents in excess and phenylalkanes; reactivation of the solid acid catalyst in a second catalytic reactor of alkylation; and/or periodic permutation of the functions fulfilled by the first and the second catalytic reactors. Production of phenylalkanes comprises: alkylation of at least an aromatic compound by at least a olefin having 9-16C per molecule (where the reaction is done in at least a first catalytic reactor of alkylation in which is present n (equal to or higher than 2) reaction zones containing at least an solid acid catalyst, and on entry of each one of these at least a fraction of the total quantity of olefin necessary for the reaction is introduced); separation of at least part of the obtained effluent to recuperate the reagents in excess on the one hand and phenylalkanes on the other hand; reactivation of each solid acid catalyst present in each of the n reaction zones of at least a second catalytic reactor of alkylation placed parallel to the reactors utilized in the first stage; and/or periodic permutation of the functions fulfilled by the first catalytic reactor of alkylation and the second catalytic reactor of alkylation so that the first reactor is used under the conditions of the reactivation stage at the end of a duration at least equal to 5 hours and the reactor initially used in the reactivation stage is used under conditions of the first stage.
