<p>A method for transmitting messages to alter the operating status between a mobilestation and a base station in a wireless access system comprises, at the mobilestation, transmitting a first message to the base station, setting a first countto a first predetermined value and enabling a first, the first message requestinga alteration in operating status between the mobile station and the base station,whereupon expiration of the first timer before receiving a second message fromthe base station, the count is decremented and, if the count is above a second predeterminedvalue, the first timer is reset and the first message is retransmitted to the basestation. The method also comprises, at a base station, receiving the first message,transmitting a second message to the mobile station and enabling a second timer,whereupon expiration of the second timer, the alteration in operating statusis effected.</p> |
