PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slit roll manufacturing method, sampling a slit roll at high yield without loss, and a slit roll outer diameter measuring device, measuring the outer diameter of the slit roll in a short time and at a low cost. SOLUTION: In this slit roll manufacturing method, the optimum slit condition of a film rolled material is determined on the basis of the information obtained by comparing the cross-direction film thickness information on the film rolled material with the total outer diameter information on two or more slit rolls obtained by slitting the film rolled material, and according to the condition, slitting is performed.
