PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation device and a method of a sensor signal for informing the position of an accelerator pedal of an automobile by which a smaller reaction threshold of the accelerator pedal is realized for starting the automobile. SOLUTION: In the device and method for evaluation of the sensor signal which informs the position of the accelerator pedal (101) of the automobile, the sensor signal is compared with a first comparison level V1 and when the sensor signal is lower than the first comparison level V1, an idling state is confirmed. When the starting of the automobile is detected, in the case where the sensor signal exceeds a second comparison level V2 smaller than the first comparison level, the departure from the idling state is confirmed.
