PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of density unevenness occurring due to transfer load fluctuations of recording sheet caused by a thermal head. SOLUTION: Printing energy at the time of recording one line by the thermal head 6 is calculated. A transfer load fluctuation amount is calculated on the basis of the printing energy. The relationship between the transfer load fluctuation amount and a transfer speed of a platen roller 7 is calculated beforehand and stored in an LUT memory 26. The transfer speed Vp of the platen roller 7 is calculated on the basis of the transfer load fluctuation amount for each line from the LUT memory 26. The speed of the platen roller 7 is rotationally controlled so as to become the transfer speed Vp. The transfer speed Vp of the platen roller 7 is changed in the direction of canceling the transfer load fluctuation amount. Tension of the recording sheet becomes almost constant. The fluctuations of pixel density caused by the transfer load fluctuations are reduced. The occurrence of the density unevenness can be suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
