<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell stack wherein fastening force for a cell laminate can be immediately adjusted by coping with partial contraction or expansion of a separator caused in accordance with change of a heat exchange medium, and a surface pressure can be adjusted by individually coping with the change of the surface pressure caused in a manifold part to circulate the heat exchange medium. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell stack is equipped with manifolds 31A an 31B to supply cooling water to the cell laminate 20 formed by laminating a plurality of cells 19 having a MEA 10 and a separator 18, motor operated actuators 30A and 30B to adjust the fastening force of the cell laminate 20.
