PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new insecticide having excellent preventive action as an insecticide for agriculture and horticulture, exerting excellent effects even when used as a mixture with another insecticide or the like.

SOLUTION: The optically active phthalamide derivative represented by general formula (I) [wherein, R1and R2are H, a (substituted) 1-6C alkyl or a 1-6C alkoxycarbonyl; R3is a 1-6C alkyl; A is H, an alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkynyl, a (substituted) phenoxyalkyl or the like; p is 0-4; q is 0-2; X is a halogen, CN, NH2, an alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkylthio or the like; m is 0-4; Y is H, a halogen, CN, NH2, an alkyl, a (substituted) phenyl or the like; n is 1-5; Z1and Z2are C-Y or N] and salts thereof are provided, and the insecticide for agriculture and horticulture comprises the derivative as an active ingredient.
