PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser system which outputs a green laser beam at a high efficiency and is miniaturized. SOLUTION: Exciting lightλ<SB>P</SB>output from a laser diode 12 is irradiated to a laser medium 30 consisting of Nd:GdVO<SB>4</SB>through lenses 21, 22, an optical fiber 23 and lenses 24, 25. When the exciting lightλ<SB>P</SB>is irradiated to the laser medium 30, light of a wavelengthλ<SB>1</SB>is emitted from the laser medium 30. A first film 31 of the laser medium 30 and a mirror 53 constitute an optical resonator, and as the laser medium 30 is arranged on a resonance optical path of the optical resonator, stimulated emission lightλ<SB>1</SB>is obtained from the laser medium 30. The stimulated emission lightλ<SB>1</SB>enters a nonlinear optical element 40 which consists of LBO arranged on the resonance optical path of the optical resonator, and a second harmonic of a wavelengthλ<SB>2</SB>different from the wavelengthλ<SB>1</SB>of the stimulated emission light is generated. The second harmonicλ<SB>2</SB>generated at the nonlinear optical element 40 penetrates a mirror 52 and is output to an outside of the optical resonator. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
