PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery having improved collecting efficiency by improving a joint structure between each lead element and an electrode group. SOLUTION: The secondary battery comprises the electrode group 25 including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, a case 11 in which the electrode group 25 is built, a cap assembly 30 having terminals 61, 63 exposed to the outside of the case 11 and joined to the case 11 to be sealed, and the lead elements 65, 67 for electrically connecting the terminals 61, 63 to the electrode group 25. The electrode group 25 has a solid portion with no active material, and the lead elements 65, 67 each have a shape corresponding to the outer shape of the solid portion and are adhered and fixed to the solid portion.
