PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of providing a desired gamma correction characteristic without changing a circuit even though the bit width of an input video signal increases. SOLUTION: A broken line gamma correction circuit 7 has a broken line gamma correction characteristic represented by a broken line approximated curve obtained by connecting respective oblique sides of a plurality of triangles in each of which the base is defined as input width and the height is defined as output width. The input width is represented by a power of 2, and the output width can be optionally set by a CPU 8. The broken line gamma correction circuit 7 uses a combination of some types of triangles, matching to the bit width of an input signal, so that the bit width of an output signal can be given as the total of output widths of the respective triangles given from the CPU 8.
