PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method in which a time required for production of polyether polyol is short and the amount of monools produced as by-products when an alkylene oxide is polymerized is slight. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the polyether polyol by carrying out addition polymerization of an active hydrogen-containing compound with an alkylene oxide by using potassium hydroxide as a catalyst, sodium content in the potassium hydroxide is≤100 ppm and purity of potassium hydroxide is≥90%.
