PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying device capable of stably carrying paper by correcting its warpage and preventing ink drips jetted from a printing head from being affected. SOLUTION: The inside of a chamber 50 is partitioned into two spaces 54 and 56 adjacent to each other with a partition plate 53. The space 54 is an upstream side chamber 54 formed on the upstream side of an image forming area 12a in the carrying direction (direction of arrow A). The space 56 is an image forming area chamber 56 formed on the underside and on the downstream side of the image forming area 12a. The upstream side chamber 54 is positioned on the upstream side of the image forming area chamber 56 in the carrying direction. Air producing suction force on the upstream side of the image forming area 12a in the carrying direction is passed through the upstream side chamber 54.
