<p>1285033 Up-and-over door operating mechanism MORRIS SINGER & HASKINS Ltd 7 Oct 1969 [7 Oct 1968] 47411/68 Heading E2M An up-and-over door is counterbalanced by means of a spring motor 15a comprising a strip of stainless spring steel 17a secured at one end to a freely rotatable reel 20a and at the other end to a shaft 5a which extend horizontally across the door panel 1a below its centre and has at each end rollers 7a for engagement with guide tracks 3a on the door frame 4a. A gear rack 21 for engagement with a pinion 23 on the shaft 5a is provided adjacent each guide track and may be formed integrally with it. Radius arms 11a are pivotally mounted between the top of each guide track and a bracket 13a on the door panel. The shaft 5a may be rotated by manual operation of the door, or by means of an electric motor 25 through an output shaft 33, chain 41 and chain sprockets 37 and 39, to operate the door. A locking device 43, which may comprise a bolt actuated by a solenoid 45, may be provided. In a modification (Fig. 4), each gear rack and pinion may be replaced by a wire rope (9) secured to the top of the door frame and the shaft (5) being wound round an enlarged portion (10) of the shaft as it rotates.</p> |
