PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir welding method for a double skin shape for favorably preventing the occurrence of any non-welded portion or a kissing bond on an inner surface side of a hollow part and effectively suppressing the occurrence of burrs, thereby forming a sound welded part when performing the butt-welding of the double skin shape by the friction stir welding operation. SOLUTION: Hollow shapes 20a, 20b of double skin structure having face plates 22, 24 facing each other are butted to each other at end faces of the face plates 22, 24 to form butted parts 28, 30, then the friction stir welding operation is implemented so as to satisfy the predetermined conditions by using a friction stir welding tool 18 in which first and second shoulder faces 12, 14 facing each other and a probe 16 are arranged in a coaxial and integrally rotatable manner.
