<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adding a biometrics authentication function without requiring a large change for a magnetic card system for specifying a bank account by a card number and specifying a user by a personal identification number. <P>SOLUTION: In the system using a magnetic card based on on-line authentication, a biometrics sensor and an IC chip are mounted on a composite card, and at least the personal identification number and biometrics data are recorded in the IC chip, whereby the personal identification number can be automatically transmitted to a host computer only by performing biometrics authentication. The biometrics sensor having authentication function is mounted on the composite card, whereby remodeling of ATM terminals is dispensed with, and a biometrics authentication service with high security can be provided without changing a host computer system.
