<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make automatic playing data not to be performed while being applied with change which are not intended by a producer who produced the automatic playing data. <P>SOLUTION: In an automatic player of this invention, prescribed pieces of prohibition information which specify an range where contents of automatic playing data are changed or an range where the contents of the automatic playing data are not changed are stored in the automatic playing data, and the range where the contents of the automatic playing data are changed or the range where the contents of the automatic playing data are not changed are decided based on changing data which specifies contents of the change, based on the automatic playing data. Moreover, the contents of the automatic playing data are changed based on the changing data and, on the other hand, an automatic musical performance is performed without changing the contents of the automatic playing data regardless of the changing specification by the changing data as to a range where is decided that the contents of the automatic playing data are not changed.
