PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-reset protection element which is thin and small while having high strength and durability. SOLUTION: This self-reset protection element has a substrate 2, a pair of lead terminals 4 provided on a temperature maintaining component, the facing surfaces of which are mutually separated while being connected to the temperature maintaining component, a movable electrode connected to a pair of the lead terminals 4 while having a making and breaking contact, a cover 10 to cover at least a part of a pair of the lead terminals 4 and the movable electrode, and a mold material 17 to cover the cover 10 and the substrate 2.
